If you've noticed the authentic parts of you slipping away during these challenging times, you are not alone. Reaching out today may be the perfect time to intentionally care for yourself. Change is hard and uncomfortable, yet research suggests avoiding the tough stuff  beneath our anxiousness or depression, can leave more space for mal-adaptive behaviors to take root. This can in turn, set us up for repetitive feedback loops, ones that may narrow our thoughts and feelings into tighter, sterile ranges of interaction and connection. Slowly, avoidance can limit our true living capacity, and lead to losing contact with our own, personally held values. Within the chaos of meeting the needs of others, we get stuck in survival mode without even realizing it, oblivious to what really matters to us anymore. 

There is an energy cost when the brain is in overdrive, solving life's issues 24/7, aiming for control or the elimination of difficult emotions or thoughts. The cost is mental exhaustion and fatigue, it is something we don't account for while we are in problem solving mode. Many of us find it hard to pause and remember, "I may never know all angles or the complete answer to my quandary."  Getting unstuck from that drive, well....it's hard !  But there are some  helpful techniques that have been researched and found effective. Let's explore what matters to you and then develop a unique plan that reflects and honors the complexity and uniqueness of your being a "human" :)

As a therapist with a concentration in individual therapy, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential, so that leading a life with meaning and celebration is your reality. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can begin to acknowledge them with an inward gaze, aim to understand their relationship to current barriers, and then identify your value driven life direction. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we may unearth long-standing behavior patterns, negative perceptions or unprocessed losses that hold you back from experiencing greater meaning and purpose. Human suffering is common to us all, but what is unique to each of us, is how we walk with it.
